Travel Insurance

As of June 1, 2004, it is a requirement that all visa applicants for Iceland be in possession of travel/health insurance. All applicants of Schengen visas must secure insurance before the visa is issued. The insured amount must be at least 30.000 Euros.

The insurance shall cover medical expenses, emergency hospital visits and transport to the home country in case of illness.

The embassies responsible for issuing visas on behalf of Iceland shall implement this.
