Family of a person that used to hold a B-permit
Residence permits for family members of foreigners that used to hold a B- og C-permit but now holding residence permits based on shortage of labourers B
This applies to relatives of foreigners who before the amendment of the Act on Foreigners held work and residence permits, B- or C- permits.
Eligible relatives are:
- Spouses, common-law spouses and registered partners;
- Dependant descendants under the age of 18;
- Dependant parents or grandparents over the age of 66.
Spouses, common-law spouses, registered partners and children under the age of 18 may be in Iceland when applying for a family reunification residence permit.
This type of residence permit counts towards a permanent residence permit.
Relatives may apply for a work permit according to the Foreign Nationals' Right to Work Act No. 97/2002.
