Miscellaneous Information
Certificates issued for Icelandic language tests for citizenship are also valid as certificates of knowledge of Icelandic when applying for a Permanent Residence Permit.
Tests in the Icelandic language for those applying for Icelandic citizenship will soon be held for the second time starting November 30, 2009 (see: http://domsmalaraduneyti.is/frettir/nr/6801). Applicants for permanent residence permits can take those tests, even though they are not applying for Icelandic citizenship. Those who pass the test will be exempted from proving attendance in Icelandic classes when applying for a permanent residence permit.
