New procedure in processing applications from EEA citizens.

As of Tuesday, January 15, 2008, citizens of EEA countries who apply for a residence permit in Iceland will receive written confirmation of their permit. The application forms have been simplified significantly and EEA wage earners will be able to have their applications processed immediately upon applying, given that they meet all requirements. This applies to applications submitted at the Directorate?s office. Applications submitted at a District Commissioner?s office will not be processed immediately, but confirmation will be mailed to the applicant. Applicants will no longer be photographed, as residence permit cards will no longer be issued to EEA nationals.
