Permanent Residence Permit:

• average processing time is 90 days.

What can you do to ensure that your application will be processed quickly?

• carefully fill out the application and deliver it to the Directorate
• make sure that all documentation is in order
• it is better to hand in the application when all documentation is ready!

Please note that citizens of the United States of America and individuals who have resided in the USA for the past 5 years, must submit a Criminal Record Check from the state in which they have resided for the past 5 years when applying for a residence permit in Iceland.

An application that is handed in with all documentation in order is given priority.

If sufficient documentation is not submitted the application processing time will unavoidably be considerably longer.
